BWF005 - Help! I'm stuck!

We have all been there. Well not exactly up a tree, but feeling stuck and finding it hard to find a way forward, feeling you've lost the way or you are not progressing as fast as you hoped or just can't get motivated to get going.

Don't worry, this is normal and will happen periodically.

The trick is to recognise it when it happens and act on it so that you don't lose too much momentum.

Here are some tips to help get you on the move again .....

Celebrate your achievements

Look back at what you have achieved so far.

If you have only just started with your training or exercise program, remind yourself of what you have done up to this point. I am sure you will find it is more than you did last week or last month.

Remember back what you were doing before you started, especially if this was not much, looking back at your progress will help you to reboot and get going again.

Give yourself a big pat on the back and keep moving forward.


Where are you heading?

What is your ultimate goal? Remember your unique driving force - this will help you to keep going.

Make it real - Put a picture of your goal on the fridge, set as screensaver on your laptop or your phone,  create a mood board on Pinterest - what ever works for you and makes your goal real.

Change it up

Often a dip in motivation can mean simply that you have become bored with what you are doing.

Change it up by adding different exercises, up the intensity, try something different. take a new class, switch your workout times or days, anything to create some variation.

Sometimes this will be all that is needed to give you a little kickstart to get you on your way again.

Find an accountability buddy

Ask a friend or family member if you can check with them for a while to keep you on track - sometimes all you need is someone to give you a little high five to help you along.

You never know, you might motivate them to follow your lead!
